Hi all,

I was wondering whether Fedora 28 comes with a default SSH and or VNC server software. I was looking at lot of on-line documents and everyone seems to suggest to install different software to be able to connect to my machine through VNC (possibly tunnelled through SSH for security); but I was wondering whether Fedora distributions have pre-installed server components for these?

Thank you for your time.

Hi everyone,

I was thinking the normal process you guys use to install a given software in Fedora or any other Linux distribution that you use. I am thinking about getting some people I know familiar with Linux and it seems that the way Linux distributions normally install software through their package managers with the terminal might be a little overwhelming for the users; who might be coming from a windows or OSX background. Is there a more GUI type way of installing a given package? Just like double clicking on a windows machine?

Thank you; any ideas are welcome :)

Hi everyone,

Coming from Windows I was just wondering whether there's a short-cut to open terminal on a folder that I see on Nautilus. In windows we can right click while holding shift key and say "open command prompt (or power shell) here". I am looking for something similar.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

When Fedora detects a problem it the problem reporting tool records it and I always try to send the error report. However normally a pop-up appears allowing me to verify to upload core dump or not.

Ok to upload core dump? (It may contain sensitive data). If your answer is 'No', a stack trace will be generated locally. (It may download a huge amount of data).

This also give a tick box that gives me the option to remind my choice. I clicked on this checkbox and then it never asks me this confirmation but assumes I have said yes. I want to change this to the default behaviour so that it prompts me whether or not to send the core dump.

I tried to go to the preferences of the problem reporting tool and change this, but I coudn't find any option regarding this. Do you have any idea where I could get this confirmation pop-up again?

Thank you for your time.

Hi everyone,

I am at the verge of setting up OpenVPN client on my Fedora workstation. It's all done basically except I have a small doubt. I was wondering what the best place to store the SSL certificate and key files. There's lots of conflicting opinions in the internet and it seem that SSL certs can be placed in /etc/ssl/certs; however I didn't see where the key files should be placed. Does these locations really matter?

Thanks for all your time.

Hi everyone,

I was reading the following article;

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/f27/sy...

It seems to suggest that each program by default uses Wayland server by default and that the's an option to choose X11 on the login screen. I am using GNOME and I do not see this option.

1) Is there specific steps I need to do in order to see this option on login screen.

2) More importantly I would like to force X11 on a program to program basis. That is use X11 for certain programs. Is this possible? If so could someone point me to the instructions.

Thanks so much for your time.
