Well, I managed to install OpenOffice. I did some deeper searching and found some instructions. They are as follows.

First I removed LibreOffice with this command. dnf --setopt=clean_requirements_on_remove=false remove libreoffice*

Second I Block openoffice.org-ure and libreoffice-ure package updates like so -

Edit file

nano -w /etc/dnf/dnf.conf

Then I added an exclude line it that file -

Add exclude row

[main] exclude=openoffice.org-ure* libreoffice-ure*

Than I installed Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 RPM packages by doing the following - rpm -Uvh RPMS/.rpm RPMS/desktop-integration/openoffice4.1.2-redhat-.rpm

Once it was installed I ran the OpenOffice4 command and the app open up and ran for me, it also installed all of the Icons and Links application menu.

Unfortunately, OpenOffice crashes after being open for a couple of minutes. If I can't figure out how to stop it from crashing I will have to go back to LibreOffice. Problem is I have deleted it off of my system and I don't know how to put it back on. Uhgggg!!!

2016-07-06 15:38:23 -0500 asked a question How to install Open Office on Fedora 23 workstation 32bit

I just recently upgraded for Fedora 18 to Fedora 23 workstation. (I never really used f18 that much, didn't have time to experiment. Now that I have the time I want to dive in and learn.)

I have a 32bit system that I am running the workstation on. I've downloaded OpenOffice rpms and unpacked it. I used the command line to install the packages, with this command | rpm -Uvih *rpm |. I should state that I am using the terminal through the GUI and I expected to see the app in my application menu but I did not. I searched the hard drive and found the OpenOffice files in my OPT directory. When I tried to run any of the apps from that directory Libre Office started instead of OpenOffice.

What did I do wrong?

Is there a GUI installation? If so, how do you start it?

Thanks for your help with this. Please be kind, I am still learning how all of this works.

2013-06-20 18:35:28 -0500 asked a question Configuring Firewall in Fedora 18

Hello,

I am new to Fedora (just started to learn it this week) and I have managed to set up vsftpd so that my machine is an ftp server. The only problem that I am having is setting up my firewall to allow ftp. I can turn it on and ftp works but if I have to restart the machine it reverts back to being blocked and I have to set the firewall permission again. How can I permanently set the firewall to allow ftp?

Any help would be appreciated.
