2015-03-27 12:37:38 -0500 marked best answer Cannot Boot LiveUSB on TA690G AM2 Motherboard

Hi, I'm currently running Fedora 17 x86 and I created a LiveUSB with Fedora 18 x86 on it. I tested it and it works on my laptop, but when I tried running it on my desktop it didn't work. I've been able to usb-boot in the past so I'm not sure what has gone wrong. I checked the BIOS, but not sure what to tweak.

After post the system just hangs -- there aren't any error messages. If I remove the USB it boots just fine off my hard drive. Thanks for any advice.

2015-03-27 11:47:45 -0500 marked best answer Unknown ssh connection timeout

Hi folks,

I'm not sure what's going on with my ssh, but I am unable to connect to it from outside my router. My local ip is 10.0.0.10 and I can ssh into that just fine. I restarted the router yesterday, reinstalled openssh, and even tried the public IP address to no avail. I also disabled the firewall (in Fedora) to see if that was messing with it.

The odd thing is it worked once and then after that connection timeout. Are there any other tests I can do to see what's wrong with my router?

2015-01-28 19:16:11 -0500 marked best answer Suddenly unable to connect via SSH

Hi,

I have a SSH private/public key in my home directory. I was connecting just fine to my shared web hosting accounts and bitbucket.org. All of a sudden I'm no longer getting a prompt to authenticate the session (passphrase). When I run the ssh or git push commands terminal it just hangs until I Ctrl+C the command. I would normally get a prompt for the passphrase. Now it just hangs there.

Is there any way to reset SSH authentication in Fedora 18? Thanks.

Using the -v option I was able to determine that my key wasn't being authorized. Thanks for your help.

2015-01-28 16:49:14 -0500 marked best answer How to scale apps in Fedora 21?

Hi, I've installed Fedora 21 and I'm a bit lost in how to scale the apps (or fonts) to be bigger. This is my first time with a laptop that has hi DPI so the resolution is crazy big and the fonts are terribly small. When I tried Ubuntu I was able to simply change the scale option to 2 in the "Displays" setting. In Fedora I have no idea how to scale the screen.

It seems that gsettings is the answer, but I'm not familiar with the schemas. Thanks for any guidance.

  • 3200 x 1800 (16:9)
  • 13.3" screen

I've installed gnome-tweak-tool and I see that the gnome interface adjusts when I make changes. What I don't see changing is Chromium. Is it GTK or is that something else?

Hi All,

I'm running Fedora 18 and for some reason I can't select or load any pictures as wallpaper using the system settings. If I right-click on a picture I can set it as a wallpaper just fine, but I can't seem to load all my favorite pictures like it does for the base wallpapers and colors options.

2014-02-13 18:31:14 -0500 commented answer [Known Issue] Scriptlet errors while installing/upgrading packages using yum/dnf/rpm

My update kept failing because of a problem with abrt.x86_64 0:2.1.12-fc20 (automatic bug reporting tool). After looking at the failed 'yum update' output I saw that the abrt dependencies had mixed version numbers. So; I removed the dependencies then reinstalled abrt and abrt-desktop.

setenforce 0 yum update selinux-policy* yum autoremove yum update --skip-broken (50 pkgs) yum remove [a lot of abrt-* files] yum reinstall abrt yum install abrt-desktop setenforce 1

So; this wasn't the exact answer to my problem, but it lead me in the right direction. Talking to the guys at #fedora-admin they informed me that I needed to be a member of at least one "non-cla" group.

2013-07-04 12:31:32 -0500 answered a question Gmail online accounts

I've had the same experience since Fedora 18 and because of it I no longer try to sync my Google account with Gnome. How about using Chromium and its many extensions.

Some of these extensions will act as pop-ups until you enable "Panels" in chrome:flags. It's a very cool feature.

I'm having a problem logging into fedorapeople.org via SSH. I haven't done so in a long time so yesterday I updated my FAS information and added a new public key. I'm unable to decipher what the problem is based on the printout below.

I do have a fergatron and a fergatron.pub file in my ~/.ssh directory.

2013-05-20 20:08:00 -0500 answered a question "Kiosk Mode" on Filezilla (Fedora 18) How to turn off?

There seems to be a "Do not save passwords" option in the settings. Odd that it's on by default. This must be a new default setting. The forum below shows you where to toggle it off.

2013-04-04 08:52:58 -0500 asked a question Chromium Hanging on Multiple Users

I'm running Fedora 18 x86_64. I discovered the joy of being able to run multiple user sessions in Chromium and have been doing so flawlessly for the past couple of months. So; I'm basically managing three separate personas (including Gmail accounts), one for personal, one for work, and one for my tabletop hobby. Which means I have separate bookmarks, username/passwords to manage and other associated accounts (social media, etc).

A couple weeks ago I noticed that during one of my sessions I could no longer load any web site. It would simply hang. No error or timeout messages. I removed the User profiles, removed Chromium (via YUM), and deleted the ~/.config/chromium directory. I also followed some online instructions to remove the encrypted sync'd data from the Google Dashboard. Unfortunately; it hasn't fixed the issue.

I use this same setup at work, which is running Windows 7 and OS X 10.8. I'm not having any issues with the Windows and Mac machines, just my precious Linux box. :'(
