hi Fedora forums

I just moved to fedora recently, and I wanted a bit of help trying to configure my video drivers with optimus...

my goal in the end is to launch steam games using my video card

I did install the video card drivers from nVidia, the SMI outputs are

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | NVIDIA-SMI 384.90 Driver Version: 384.90 | |-------------------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | GPU Name Persistence-M| Bus-Id Disp.A | Volatile Uncorr. ECC | | Fan Temp Perf Pwr:Usage/Cap| Memory-Usage | GPU-Util Compute M. | |===============================+======================+======================| | 0 GeForce GTX 970M Off | 00000000:01:00.0 Off | N/A | | N/A 54C P8 1W / N/A | 0MiB / 6080MiB | 0% Default | +-------------------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Processes: GPU Memory | | GPU PID Type Process name Usage | |=============================================================================| | No running processes found | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

which is perfect, but on the glxinfo| grep "Open.."

ERROR: Unable to find display on any available system

seems to suggest something is wrong with the driver or the installation

so I checked lspci| grep "3D|VGA"

01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM204M [GeForce GTX 970M] (rev a1) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)

so I googled and found out about bumblebee, I uninstalled the nVidia drivers, installed bumblebee - let it install it's own nVidia drivers and rebooted... after it the system hangs just before reaching the log in screen (fedora's blue f symbol) and if I move to CLI view, every different boot it just hangs at a different section of check

so I uninstalled bumblebee via the text 3 and tried fedora-prime - same results....

so I uninstalled fedora-prime (even though for some reason it's command is STILL available for me to use on the terminal for some weird reason, maybe make uninstall didn't handle it well)

I wonder how I can resolve this issue (and yes I tried googling it around and tested different results, nothing kicks in)

also thank you for looking at my problem and helping me resolve it well appericated

p.s proof that running card is intel and not nvidia is by glxinfo| grep "Open GL"

OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center
