The best way to install VLC player is by using RPMFusion :

https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration

Go into this website and since your version of Fedora is 25, download and install these packages 1.RPM Fusion free for Fedora 25 2.RPM Fusion nonfree for Fedora 25

Then open up terminal and go into root user by typing su and enter your root password and copy this command :

dnf install vlc and hit enter ;

type "y" to accept installation.

Hey steve..i need your help right away... Here i am putting a screenshot for reclaiming space i earlier used on legacy fedora...but i dont know which are d drives i need to delete....

These are the disks present in the list..

  1. WINRE_DRV
  2. Bios boot
  3. /Boot
  4. Fedora
  5. System_drv
  6. Lrs_esp
  7. Unknown
  8. Windows 8
  9. Entertainment
  10. Miscellaneous
  11. Lenovo
  12. PBR_DRV

The drives 8 to 11 are the ones i used earlier when i was in windows 8... So what all disks can i delete so that i can get back the space used for earlier fedora

Im sorry but i dont understand this part "then it asks about where to install, select the option to make space available, delete the partition that has the legacy fedora, and let fedora installer create new partitions."

you are saying that after booting up the USB i should select the drive that has legacy fedora to reinstall???

or

should i be clearing space before booting the usb for fresh installation???

I recently installed Fedora 25 in my Lenovo PC which came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed (most preferably installed in UEFI mode..Laptop is 2yrs old).

This is the sequence i used, to install Fedora.

  1. Made a 117 gb of unallocated space from a drive using "Disk partition" in windows 8
  2. Created a bootable usb of Fedora 25 using Fedora Media Writer downloaded from the website.
  3. Turned off the secure boot mode and changed the settings to Legacy (wherever found this option)
  4. During installation i selected the drive of 117gb to install the fedora and installed succesfully (in legacy mode).
  5. Restarted the system. A menu appears with 4 options. 5.1 Fedora (4.8.6-300 and so on) 5.2 Fedora (0-rescue and so on) 5.3 Windows recovery environment (loader) (on /dev/sda3) 5.4 Windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda5)

The problem starts here.. When i select first option Fedora boots up with no problem. But when i try to go for Windows (last option) it shows an error.

"Windows fail to start" fie :\Boot\BCD Status : 0xc0000225 Info : The boot configuration data is missing.

But when i use fedora i can see all my drives including the drive which has windows installed. Please help me solving this error and the main problem is I'm completely new to Fedora.
