I have audio files in sub directories of the Music Library. If I copy an audio file from one of the sub directories to the parent Music Library directory, Rhythmbox's import option find the file and plays it just fine. Otherwise, the import option does not find the same file in its sub directory.

What's going on?

2018-01-15 15:03:43 -0500 asked a question fedora 27 multiple copies of mutter

My dnf listing for mutter returns

mutter.x8664 3.26.2-2.fc27 @updates mutter.i686 3.26.2-2.fc27 updates mutter-devel.i686 3.26.2-2.fc27 updates mutter-devel.x8664 3.26.2-2.fc27 updates mutter-tests.x86_64 3.26.2-2.fc27 updates

I know mutter was updated recently, should my workstation have all of the above?

looks like an issue with Kerberos and Samba

2017-10-08 07:06:55 -0500 answered a question Internet problem with interface configured for ipv6 & ipv4

The connectivity issue with running ipv6 and ipv4 on the same interface is back.

The only reliable way to temporarily provide a fix is to disable ipv6 on the interface, for example to disable ipv6 on a wireless interface use

sudo sh -c 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/wlp3s0/disable_ipv6'

For now, that is what I will do - cheers to all!

2017-10-07 08:04:39 -0500 answered a question Internet problem with interface configured for ipv6 & ipv4

So, I ran dnf upgrade this morning, there was an upgrade to dnsmasq - dnsmasq.x86_64.2.76-5.fc26

Voila, I do not have to disable ipv6 on my interface to access fedoraproject.org or other sites that show ipv6 addresses and ipv4 address with nslookup. My ifconfig shows my active network interface configured for both ipv4 and ipv6 and ping gets an ipv4 address.

My take on this is that the weak ipv6 points in the Internet are software and network devices that can not yet handle ipv6. Much has been written about ipv6's packet segmentation which is entirely different from ipv4's approach and its negative effect on software that accommodates both ipv4 and ipv6.

Here is a link describing dnsmasq problems as of October 3, 2017 - https://www.helpnetsecurity.com/2017/...

2017-10-05 08:36:14 -0500 asked a question Internet problem with interface configured for ipv6 & ipv4

I was surprised to find that firefox v56.0 failed to access fedoraproject.org with "Secure Connection Failed" during TLS negotiation. I then tried to ping fedoraproject.org and noticed that ping was only receiving the ipv6 address.

Then I temporarily turned ipv6 processing off for my network interfaace - voila! I now can access fedoraproject.org to post this problem. Obviously, my temporary fix is not a solution to this problem.

I noticed the problem on October 3, many sites are affected.

2017-08-09 10:48:08 -0500 asked a question Fedora 26 File returns "Folder Empty" When Accessing Windows Network

After upgrading to Fedora 26 from Fedora 25, File returns "Folder Empty" when accessing Windows Network

Fedora 26 SMBCLIENT displays password prompt and then accesses Windows XP server and its shares with no problem

This is confusing

8/15/17 Testing with Wireshark

1) I captured traffic between my fedora 26 system and my windows xp master browser 2) I used File to open the Windows Network, no password prompt, and get the "Folder Empty" displayed Note) With Fedora 25, I get the password prompt with File after opening Windows Network no problems

My Bro security system that I run on my fedora 25 work station reports 152.19.134.142 connected to port 80(http). Note this connection is reported even though I am not running a web browser at the time. What is going on? This IP address is at UNC in the Fedora Project.
