2017-04-27 04:38:13 -0500 asked a question Fedora 25: KVM Network Bridge Issues

Hello, I'm running a Web Server in KVM, host is Fedora 25 and I'm trying to create a network bridge so I can make the virtual machine available to external machines. By default, KVM creates its own bridge, 192.168.122.1. This device acts as a virtual router for the virtual machines and will grant them IP addresses in this range. However, I want my machine to lease external addresses.

This is the guide I'm following: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/kv...

That's about all you need to do.

ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0
ifconfig eth1 0.0.0.0
brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth0
brctl addif br0 eth1
dhclient br0

Basically it's almost working except for this issue: The moment I do brctl addif br0 eth0 my host loses internet connection and only the VM gets internet. It becomes visible and everything, but I need both the host and the VM to have internet connection. If I type brctl delif br0 eth0, then only the host has internet connection and the VM doesn't.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

2017-04-04 12:57:59 -0500 asked a question KDE Folders open Rhythmbox on click, Fedora 25

After installing some additional software on Fedora 25 (wine, viber) suddenly I can't open the folders on the desktop anymore. Now when I click on a folder, instead of Dolphin opening the folder, Rhythmbox starts and says can't play the file. For some reason some part of the system thinks those are files that are supposed to be opened with Rhythmbox instead of with File Manager. I'm using KDE Plasma 5 desktop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thank you about telling me about the journal. When I ran journalctl -b during emergency boot I found that I hadn't created the directory /mnt/Data and there wasn't a mount point. For some reason I thought that 'mount' was creating the directory on demand. Probably the stupidest mistake ever.

2017-04-01 13:46:18 -0500 asked a question Can't automount NTFS drive in Fedora 25

Hello, I migrated from Windows to Fedora and one of my Data drives is NTFS. I want to automount it at startup, but unfortunately it doesn't work.

I tried to edit the /etc/fstab , but every time I add the drive on fstab it goes to emergency mode after reboot. Here's how my /etc/fstab looks like (I commented out the line so it doesn't crash the system):

#
# /etc/fstab
# Created by anaconda on Sat Apr 1 17:16:06 2017
#
# Accessible filesystems, by reference, are maintained under '/dev/disk'
# See man pages fstab(5), findfs(8), mount(8) and/or blkid(8) for more info
#
/dev/mapper/fedora-root / ext4 defaults 1 1
UUID=287aa136-2d41-40e3-bb84-780cc2b0de65 /boot                   ext4    defaults        1 2
/dev/mapper/fedora-home /home ext4 defaults 1 2
/dev/mapper/fedora-swap swap swap defaults 0 0

# NTFS formatted storage disk
#UUID=1A022B4B022B2AE9 /mnt/Data ntfs defaults 0 2

When I mount it manually from Fedora it mounts at /run/media/user/Data so I tried using this location in the fstab as well but it went to emergency mode again.

I also tried the "Drives" utility but it inserted a line in fstab that didn't result in anything.

Here is my blkid:

I tried redshift but it doesn't have temperature settings. I installed redshift and redshift-gtk, but I want to decrease the lightning at night to 1200K (ember) and as far as I could find, redshift doesn't have these settings. Also I'm not sure whether redshift actually decreases blue light or just displays a red layer over. EDIT: In the articles you sent me redshift does have lighting settings. I guess it's a different GUI. I will check it out.

2017-03-12 01:22:06 -0500 asked a question Fedora 25: Can't install

Hello, I've been trying to install a GUI for a program called f.lux. It is a program which modulates the monitor temperature throughout the day to improve the user's circadian rhythm. Although it can be used without the GUI, the GUI offers many more options which I would like to use. Unfortunately the GUI seems to be optimized for Debian/Ubuntu so installing it on Fedora 25 creates a lot of problems. The GUI requires multiple python libraries some of which I was able to install through DNF and some of which I had to download. I need to download and install the following libs:

python-gconf python-gtk2 python-glade2 libxxf86vm1

I downloaded python-gconf from rpmfind.net , but when I try to install it, it says it requires python-gobject2, so I downloaded the latest version of python-gobject from rpmfind.net but now when I try to install python-gobject it says:

Hello, I just installed Fedora 25 and noticed that when I watch a movie in VLC and do nothing else the system works fine. However when i watch a movie and browse the web at the same time, the whole system crashes and I need to restart my PC. Any ideas what might be causing that?

Thanks in advance.
