Follow this how to restore grub instruction, if this doesn't fix it, try running testdisk or this ubuntu instructions just change the commands to fedora commands.

2017-12-09 15:58:03 -0500 answered a question How to dual boot by Fedora first install

Installing Windows after Fedora is not the recommended process for a dual boot Windows and Fedora system, but it is possible.

  1. Make space for Windows using GParted and format the drive as NTFS
  2. boot to the Windows DVD installer and install Windows on the NTFS partition.(After this Windows will overwrite the grub menu, you won't be able to login to your Fedora.)
  3. fix grub by following this instructions.

2016-11-28 03:01:03 -0500 answered a question Can't connect to X11 window server using ':0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable

It's a bug in fedora 25, apps run via su or sudo are not authorised to connect to the X11 display server. I ran the installation without sudo and it worked.

2016-06-26 21:53:17 -0500 answered a question How do I tell if RPMFusion has signed its packages or not?

From What I know, "packages not signed error" occurs if you have rpmfusion v23 on your fedora 24 installed, If you download the current version v24 from here, you don't get those errors.

2016-06-24 17:27:14 -0500 answered a question what does it mean Package <name>.rpm is not signed

Your current version of rpmfusion is probably v23, Download the current version (v24) of rpmfusion from their website http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration .

2016-05-05 19:20:10 -0500 answered a question Unable to install fedora 23, reclaim space

I have solved the problem by following the steps here

2016-05-05 19:16:45 -0500 answered a question Installer doesn't give me the option to use free disk space

The problem might be that your windows 10 is in legacy mode and Fedora 23 and Windows 10 work in UEFI mode. I had the same problem, I had to format the drive and re-install windows 10, then I was able to install Fedora. see my answer here for more details.

2016-05-05 19:04:45 -0500 answered a question no valid boot loader target found

I have solved this problem by, formatting my drive and re-installing windows. My laptop was still new I didn't have any important files on my drive. Using DiskPart I converted the drive to GPT.

2016-05-05 18:59:44 -0500 answered a question Installing Fedora 23 x64 in Legacy Mode with Windows 10 (USB installation)

I had the same problem, my laptop was still new so I didn't have any important files on my drive and default mode was legacy. I formatted the whole drive and re-installed Windows, and automatically installed in UEFI mode. If you have important files on your drive, create a backup, because this method will erase all of your data.

  1. Insert Windows installer disc, when the installer prompt for windows activation key, press left shift + F10, CMD will open.

  2. type diskpart.

  3. type list disk, this will list all disks on the drive, including Disk 0, you may have more disks.

  4. type select Disk 0, or select the disk you want to install windows on, mine was Disk 0.

  5. type clean, this might take a bit of time.

  6. Now convert the drive to GPT, type convert GPT. close CMD and continue to install windows, after that you will be able to install fedora.

2016-05-05 06:19:57 -0500 commented question no valid boot loader target found

My laptop came with 32 bit windows 8.1 pre-installed, with legacy mode enabled. I have formatted the drive using windows DiskPart and re-installed windows 8.1 x64 in UEFI mode, and my problem was solved.

2016-05-01 20:04:04 -0500 asked a question no valid boot loader target found

I have been trying to install fedora on my laptop in a dual boot, running windows 8.1, BIOS is in a legacy mode, for the past 24 - 36 hours and I don't know what to do anymore. Anaconda doesn't want to automatically partition my drive. I'm doing it manually. I get this error message "No valid boot loader target device found. See below for details. For a UEFI installation, you must include an EFI System Partition on a GPT-formatted disk, mounted at /boot/efi."

Hi, I'm trying to install fedora 23, But I'm getting reclaim space error. I have allocated 323G of space for fedora using ext3. My laptop is currently running windows 8.1, This is what I tried. 1. Allocate memory using windows disk manager (I have alloacted 323G). 2. Install fedora, I'm getting reclaim space after selecting reclaim space, I get error checking storage configuration.

Search "Network", click Network and if usb modem is plugged in it will appear in the list of available networks. if this doesn't work do sudo systemctl start ModemManager and sudo systemctl enable ModemManager And restart your desktop and plug in your modem, go to the network and see if it appears in the list of available networks.
