2016-01-05 06:45:36 -0500 asked a question What has happened to Eclipse?

When I got back from the holidays I did a normal dnf update on my workstation. Unfortunately Eclipse became completely useless after that, extremely slow, F3 might take somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds, pop-up windows (like ctrl-t) didn't work anymore, the scrollbar was jumping all over the place.

I am the only one?

I then downloaded Eclipse directly from eclipse.org and continued working.

2015-12-02 00:20:18 -0500 asked a question Fedora 21 -> 23?

I've got a fully updated Fedora 21 desktop that I want to update to Fedora 23. What's the best way to do it? Can I use fedup to directly go to 23 or do I need first to update to 22 and then 23?

2015-08-12 15:58:52 -0500 asked a question Howto migrate to a larger disk?

I just installed Fedora 22 and I've now realized that the hard disk I took was too small. Is there a way to migrate the installation to an other disk that I have and that's larger? I wouldn't want to do the installation process all over again.

2015-07-26 03:23:10 -0500 asked a question All these log messages in F22

In my freshly installed Fedora 22 I've got a terminal window in which I run journalctl -fl just to see what's happening under the hood. It keeps logging messages like the following on a regular interval. Not sure what to think about these. Can I remedy these issue(?) in some way?

2015-07-23 03:34:45 -0500 commented answer Manage VPN from systemd and GUI

Thanks. Worked like a charm.

How is it, if the vpn connection breaks down for some reason, will the underlying network connection be inactivated?

2015-07-19 11:22:40 -0500 asked a question Manage VPN from systemd and GUI

I've setup a OpenVPN client in my Fedora 22 workstation with a config file in /etc/openvpn. I've setup systemd to connect the vpn at startup and I've imported the same config file in gnome network manager.

The vpn connection comes up fine at startup, but the problem is that that is not reflected in gnome system menu (top right corner). It shows that vpn connection as being off.

Is there a way to have vpn connection initiated at startup and show up in the correct state in gnome system menu?

2015-04-19 13:02:08 -0500 asked a question Resetting Evolution message counter

I'm using Evolution to download and archive e-mail from my Gmail account. I'm using POP. The last time I downloaded there was some network hiccup and the process didn't terminate normally. After that Evolution doesn't see any new e-mails and the newest it did download is couple of weeks old.

How can I recover from this?

I have well over ten thousand e-mail in that Gmail account, so I don't want to start from scratch.

2015-03-27 12:46:41 -0500 marked best answer How to keep firefox instances apart

On my F20 gnome desktop I have Firefox running most of the time. I also have a server (Centos7) to which I've connected with 'ssh -X' and from where I also run Firefox. The problem is that the gnome desktop doesn't seem to be able to keep these two instances apart. If I have a firefox server instance running then when I try to start firefox from gnome desktop it will bring the up server instance. I have to start firefox from a terminal window with --new-instance flag to get a desktop firefox. Same thing with opening URLs from other application, that might bring up the server instance if it is the older one.

How can I keep these two instances apart?

2014-12-02 14:01:22 -0500 edited question gnome-online-accounts no longer working

On my fully updated F20 desktop I can no longer edit online accounts. When I open up the window in settings all the buttons are greyed out. At the same time I get following in the logs "obexd[2537]: Unable to find service record".

I recently deleted an OwnCloud account that was the was the only online account defined. Now I can't create any new ones.

Is there a config file that I could edit instead?
