Dual booting

Hi, When I was trying to dual boot Fedora and XP, I ran the fedora xfce installer with already there were 2 ntfs windows partitions in the system. I just created a root(ext4), swap(ext4) as a standard partition but when I created 5th home partition, suddenly it turned out as an extended partition. Why did this happen?
