Mobile internet on fedora

Hello there,

I'm in a accommodation with my girl friend and she don't want to install cable network cause we are moving in 1 month. But i have some job to do in this time and i need internet. She have a flashcard with mobile internet from one of our mobile operators but it is more orientated for windows.

Anyway inside the flash there are instructions for installation on Linux. I'm using Fedora 20 and the instructions are these:

--How to Install---------------------- * You need login as root *

  1. Run "tar jxvf linux_install.tar.bz2"

  2. Run "./install" in TERMINAL to install MobilePartner eg: # bash /<path>/install

  3. If you had installed this software in your system before, you will get a prompt: "The software is exist, do you want overwrites? ([Y]/[N])", enter "y" to overwrites or "n" to exit.

  4. If you do not had installed this software in your system before, you will get a prompt: "Please input the install path[/usr/local/Mobile_Partner]:". Then you can input install path(fullpath), or you may using the default path(/usr/local/Mobile_Partner) by press ENTER direct

  5. Finish installing

--How to run-------------------------- * From shortcut in desktop

  • Run MobilePartner in your install path eg: # /<install path="">/MobilePartner

  • Plug in your device, it will run automatically (Not supported in Xandros)

So i navigate to the folder where the files for Linux installation via cd /run/media/jinx/the name of the flash. Then i execute the first command - tar jxvf linux_install.tar.bz2 First inside the folder the file is install_linux and when i execute - tar jxvf install_linux.tar.bz2 i receive a message :

tar(child): install_linux.tar.bz2: Cannot open: No such a file or directory tar(child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now tar: child returned status 2 tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

The install_linux (file) file is inside the flash drive and also the folder Linux

The files inside the folder are:

  1. 7zr (file)
  2. data (.bin)
  3. DataCard_Verify (file)
  4. install (file)
  5. MobilePartner (.bin)
  6. readme (.txt)
