how to stop wi-fi light from blinking while active

I'm a linux newbie using Fedora 23. My laptop's wi-fi lights (two on Compaq 8510p) are flashing constantly during data transmission. I find it quite distracting. "Putting tape" over them is inelegant. I was hoping to find an answer in the Fedora forums, but wasn't able to turn anything up.

It's disappointing this default behavior doesn't have a quick toggle to disable the flashing and just have the light steady illuminated for "wi-fi on" and non-illuminated for "wi-fi off".

Thanks in advance!
