How do I enable the logout option in gnome shell?

With Fedora 19, the pull down menu in gnome shell at the upper right only shows a "Power Off" option. Logout is not an option. I recall somewhere that this is due to my having only one user account other than root. It would be nice to have logout show up without creating another dummy account. There must be a way to do that.
