Why the external HDMI display is so slow on my MBP 10.1?

I installed Fedora 25 Workstation (Gnome) on my Apple MacBookPro 10.1 retina display 15", dual booting with OSX. I boot Fedora 25 with my external monitor connected using HDMI (Acer KA220HQbid B00Z03HSP2 resolution 1920x1080) Boot screen appears correctly on both displays (MacBook Pro and external) Login screen appears only on the MacBook Pro retina display I log in When I use the Display preferences in GNOME to turn off the internal display and to use only the external one. The external screen displays everything correctly but the UI becomes extremely slow. If I connect the external display AFTER the boot process and AFTER the user log in, everything works fine.

The video drivers used in fedora are the standard one supplied during the installation. No additional driver was installed. Do you have any suggestion?
