Fedora 17 does not accept expanding VirtualBox HD

I am trying to install Fedora 17 in VirtualBox (under Mac OSX) and encounter the following problem:

The virtual drive used by VirtualBox by default has a size of 8GB, and is "auto-expanding", which means that actual disk space will expand as needed (it doesnt start at 8GB).

This worked fine for an earlier version of Fedora (14), but Fedora 17 doesn't allow me to go through the installation setip: it first shows a correct available space of 8GB, but later it complains that it cannot install on a device with less than 4GB available.

The only way for now seems to create a "fixed space" virtual disk, which is unfortunate :(
