Fedora 24 4.8.16-200.fc.x84_64 boot problems on HP 17-y006ng Laptop

Ok, it's long time since I was into the tech Linux stuff, and it's all very very faint in my memory, so you may consider me as a newbie, at least that's how I look at it.

CPU: AMD Quad-Core A10-9600P RAM: 8 GB Display Adapter: AMD Radeon™ R7 M440-Grafikkarte

I recently bought that laptop, and it works almost like a charm with Fedora 24 4.5.5-300.fc.x84_64. When I try to boot the new kernel, it simply hangs in the middle of the boot process.

I can boot the F24 Live image but get the following error msg in Gnome: "We're sorry, it looks like BOOT_IMAGE=/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz crashed". BTW the live image is burned to DVD.

When I boot the old kernel, I get this msg: "we're sorry, it looks like /usr/bin/gnome-software crashed, please con". and I can't install any software that way.

And if I try with the F25 Live image, I get literally thousands of time outs for device=03:00.0, and if I try to upgrade from F24->F25 either via Gnome Software or dnf-system-upgrade it always fails.

I am fully aware that this is not info enough for anyone to come up with a solution, but somehow I need to know where to start to figure out what is going wrong.

I can't understand these log files any more, and I am not even sure where to look for them. It's driving me nuts, as I have no problems on my 10 year old Desktop.
