Hi all. This is my first question here so please don't be harsh with me.

Environment:

➜ ~ cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 24 (Twenty Four)

After keeping the machine alive for couple of days Xorg starts consuming too much memory (in my opinion). I'm not sure actually if this is normal behavior but I have been in situation where the machine is unresponsive and the only way to get over this is by reboot. I assume this was caused by the Xorg.

Today I checked it after 4 days running and I saw this:

➜ ~ ps -auxf | grep Xorg
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
root 1903 4.7 42.8 7421868 6903572 tty1 Ssl+ Jan05 278:15 \_ /usr/libexec/Xorg -background none :0 -seat seat0 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nolisten tcp vt1 -novtswitch

Almost 7G (total 16) of memory is used by Xorg.

Any suggestions why this is happening and is it supposed to happen? Should I fix this somehow?

I have no idea but I'm experiencing the same issue. I solve it by logging out, without even restarting the X server...
