After upgrading Fedora 25 I am unable to get to the login screen after reboot. The workaround is to switch from kernel 4.8.15-300 back to 4.8.6-300. Can anyone advise?

Just want to add that the following bug sounds very close like what I'm experiencing.

GUI problem after kernel upgrade from 4.8.6, problem with i915 drivers

I Had a lot of problems with the same build of Fedora ( ) But I seem to have got around the problem by doing a number of things.. 1) I did 2 Hard Reboots with at least 10 seconds between button presses.......... 2) I reloaded the Graphics drivers. In my case Nvidia 3) Strangely, I reloaded the RPM fusion free and non free abilities and ran sudo dnf update again and once again, did a Hard Reboot.

Fingers crossed, My system now seems to be stable and working well Good luck

Same problem as mine. As a solution, I use 4.9 which is much better. Sorry if didn't answer your question. Thank you :v

Thanks, I guess this is the best answer so far. Are you also using the on-board graphics? I don't feel very adventurous right now to build my own kernel, so I'm continuing to use the older kernel, hoping that the problem will get fixed in a later build.
