Running Fedora Workstation 25 fully updated.

When I delete a file from Files, it does not go to the Trash. Instead it is just deleted.!

There is more than enough space available on the hard disk and there are files till as recently as Monday in the Trash.

Hwo do I set this right?

  • check permissions on ~/.local/share/Trash/files (should be 7 0 0 with your user as owner and group)
  • how exactly do you delete the file? (right-clicking + move to trash / pressing delete on keyboard while caps-lock is on?)
  • can you empty the trash and get an empty recycle bin after F5? or do you get an error there

@moe120, the permissions on ~/.local/share/Trash/files are 700. I have tried deleting using the right click as well as pressing the delete key when caps-lock is OFF. Same result.

do you have any external drives / usb thumb drives connected or any mapped network drives? i would try and eject all of these and see if the problem remains. This raises another question :-) the files you are deleting (and that refuse to go to the trash) are not located on a network drive are they?
