I'm seeking recommendations on how to proceed for fixing my unstable desktop. After upgrading from F24 to F25, my Fedora Gnome deskop has been unstable. It appears that gnome-shell is unable to communicate with Xwayland, which got killed. I'm seeing messages like the following when I run journalctl after the gnome-shell crashes.

Dec 03 21:58:04 jon-fedora64 abrt-hook-ccpp[26379]: Process 22161 (Xwayland) of user 1000 killed by SIGABRT - dumping core

Dec 03 21:58:05 jon-fedora64 gnome-shell[22154]: Connection to xwayland lost

Dec 03 21:58:05 jon-fedora64 gnome-settings-[2809]: failed to connect to device: Failed to connect to missing device /org/freedesktop/ColorM

Dec 03 21:58:07 jon-fedora64 gnome-terminal-[23046]: Error reading events from display: Broken pipe

Dec 03 21:58:07 jon-fedora64 gnome-software[22297]: Error reading events from display: Broken pipe Dec 03 21:58:07 jon-fedora64 gnome-session-binary[22124]: WARNING: Application 'org.gnome.Shell.desktop' killed by signal 5

Notes: -my upgrade from Fedora 24 to F25 was interrupted due to a transient power outage. But after running 'dnf distro-sync', it appears that I have a complete and consistent system. -I was unable to attach the larger set set of log messages from journalctl to provide more context, since I don't have enough points.

Thanks, Jonathan

I think the key to solving this problem is to determine why the following error occurs everytime my Gnome desktop crashes:

Xwayland: pushbuf.c:238: pushbuf_krel: Assertion `bkref' failed.

I might post this as a separate question.
