Hi! Please help!

As stated in the "question" my Fedora gets hung up and won't open the desktop. I type my volume encryption password and everything gets going... but when I look at the processes (typing F10 as it's going) I can see that it stops here with this message:

"[27.(some other numbers)] sp 5100_tco: I/O address 0x0cd6 already in use" "[30.(some more numbers)] kvm: disabled by bios"

Next it does a few more things that are still somewhat of a mystery to me, but which it confirms are "OK" (in green) and finally stops here with the following output:

"A start job is running for Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit ( (we see a running time clock here and) / no limit)"

My Fedora was running "fine" before this attempt to change my forgotten root password. I used the advice I found here about how to do that. When I did not use "plymouth..." the first time I tried WITHOUT the plymouth entry, I got this result:

"[ 2.662650] Failed to find cpu0 device node"
At this point (as with the above sticking point) all further efforts to interact with my machine, except for Ctrl-Alt-Del were in vain. :(

Though I am learning bit by bit, I am still quite green with Linux and find many ways to frustrate myself daily... but I expect for many others here, this is all makes sense and is an easy problem. So I thank you in advance for taking the time to help a noob like me with this.

Much Love, Fen

Does the system ever boot to the (AKA initstate=3)?

If you don't know what I'm talking about - check to see if your system is asking you for a login and passwd in a VT (Virtual Terminal). You can get to a virtual terminal by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2.

Let us know if you have a prompt and if you can log in.
