Issue with GDM Or Gnome ScreenSaver in fedora 25

When locking the computer with super + L I see it will switch over to the gdm but then the following things happen:

  • The screen goes black and it becomes unresponsive to any input be it random keyboard pressing and or mouse movement clicking

  • The monitor will report there is no signal.

Unfortunately, journalctl is not outputting anything and by that I mean for the two solid two minutes that I leave it in a "dead" state journalctl will not have captured anything. I have debugging enabled for gdm but that hasn't revealed anything obviously wrong. So I am at lost as to how I should even debug this let alone solve it.

However, on closer look it seems to kill the signal after the screen shield has gotten all the way to the bottom of the screen.

It seems that my issue was caused indirectly or directly by Nouveau by installing the proprietary nvidia drivers the issue has been resolved.
