Does my current PC work with Fedora as the main OS?

asked 2016-11-16 23:49:41 -0500

I'm currently a Windows 10 user. After learning about privacy and security issues with Windows, I would like to change my operating system to Fedora. However, I tried searching about my hardware to see if it is supported by Fedora. I couldn't find anything definite so was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on how I should find it out.

I plan to do my daily computer browsing on Fedora and will play some games which I would probably use Windows to access some steam games or to play League of legends. Should I pick up another hard drive an do a dual boot? Or should I try to use WINE to play some games?

My current specs are:

Cpu: AMD FX-4100 Motherboard: M5A99FX PRO R2.0 GPU: AMD Gigabyte windforce 6970

Do let me know if my setup will work.

Thanks for your help!

It would work without problem. But before you do, research if your GPU drivers are available for Fedora version of your choice.

Booting a live DVD/USB stick is the best way of finding out hardware compatibility/issues
