Will Fedora 25 get Cinnamon 3.2?

I want to try Fedora for first time (I use Ubuntu and Manjaro at the moment). As far as I have understood, fedora is a release-model distro (not a rolling one) but it gets updates a bit more aggressively than Ubuntu (correct me if I'm wrong). I know that the "main" Desktop environment is Gnome (which gets minor updates really quick), but do the others like Cinnamon get any love? Will Cinnamon get version 3.2, which is only a point release with mostly bug fixes? Will I have to add some repository on my own? If you can direct me to some page describing the updating policy of Fedora's packages will be nice too.

Cinnamon-3.2.0 isn't a small change, the screensaver is a complete rewrite. Cinnamon-settings-daemon also had some major changes, I will be switching to libinput (replaces synaptics). You also forget the major impact that gtk version has on fedora (it doesn't affect mouldy crap like ubuntu or debian).

That said, >=24 will get 3.2, if you want it now try my copr

P.S The F25 repo's have been frozen for release since 01/11 so it isn't possible to push any packages!

I was trying various spins and I had problems with all of them (mate, kde, gnome), so I was about to leave fedora behind and never try it again. Then I saw your comment and I gave cinnamon spin a try. I'm glad I did! It's the most polished spin comparing to the others. Thx for letting me know that he update was available!

I have been using Fedora+Cinnamon (not the official spin) for more than an year and it's the most cleanest desktop I experienced after the original GNOME-2

and https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/cinnamon
shows 3.2.1-1.fc26 only on rawhide, F25 still with 3.0.7-3.fc25

  • Yes, Fedora gets more updates than Ubuntu and some people don't like that but i see it as an advantage that makes Fedora catching up to the top of the list

  • and yes Cinnamon gets apiece of Love in fedora and all you want to know about Cinnamon is here https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Cinnam...

  • you will need to add some 3rd party repo's like RPM Fusion , Fedy ....etc. i have been using RPM Fusion only for a while and it does the job
