Hi!

I've installed Fedora 18, read the wiki but the method mentioned to install Microsoft Fonts is not working anymore.

I've done other researches on Google but no solution seems to be working with Fedora 18...

Help please!

To install microsoft fonts, follow these steps

cd /tmp
wget http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec (you may also check if an updated version of msttcorefonts is available)
yum install rpm-build cabextract ttmkfdir
rpmbuild -bb msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec
yum install /root/rpmbuild/RPMS/noarch/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.noarch.rpm

logout and login back or just do a reboot!

After executing the last command, I get Error: No package /root/rpmbuild/RPMS/noarch/msttcorefonts-2.5-1.noarch.rpm available.

Did u do rpmbuild -bb msttcorefonts-2.5-1.spec before that?

I figured out my problem. The package was in ~/ and not in /root/, presumably because I did not execute the rpmbuild command as root.

The prerequisites for the RPM may need to be installed manually. Details can be found at http://mscorefonts2.sourceforge.net .

I used to use the script from - http://blog.andreas-haerter.com/2011/07/01/install-msttcorefonts-fedora.sh

but now, i just keep a copy of the fonts i like* in my Dropbox, and when i install a new machine - i just copy the files/fonts to the /usr/share/fonts folder.

then you run fc-cache to rebuild the font cache

fc-cache -rfv
  • just copied from my MS Windows machine
