Hi when I try to update my fedora 17 x64 install by the software updater I get this error message:

Could not get updates Failed to process your request
then it shows this error message in the box below that
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface
`org.freedesktop.PackageKit.Transaction' on object at path /2_dadecdea_data

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this to where it will work again?

Try updating via command line. Open a terminal and type as root: "yum clean all && yum update"

If you insist on running Fedora 17 then ...

In the file /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo ... Comment out the first "basearch" line and add the following line below it.

In the file /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo ... Comment out the first "basearch" line and add the following line below it.

Run the following:

yum check-update
yum update

There will be dependency errors. Run

yum update --exclude-broken

Fedora 17 is EOL. It would be very difficult to upgrade 17>18>. . .>21>22. So better get a Fedora 22 or 23 image and install it.
