sound suddenly disappeared

Last week sound worked all fine. After rebooting two days ago the sound was gone. I have no clue what happened. Pulseaudio messages are the following:

Ok ich verstehe, dass er ein Kernel Modul nicht mehr läd, aber weder verstehe ich warum, noch weiß ich wie ich das Problem behebe. Kann mir jemand helfen?

You may have two sound modules in your system. An analog one that came with the mother board, and perhaps one that came with your video card. (Yes, some vendors give you video and sound on the common card).

Just check to see if the system accidentally or otherwise, selected the wrong audio module.
