kernel patch for sp3

asked 2016-10-08 13:41:49 -0500

Hi, I've been running fedora24 on my surfacepro3 since last month and it's been a great experience so far. File management seems so much faster than on windows, but I've really been missing multitouch and my wireless connection drops out after a while.

  • All networks except one disappear, it seems to be random which one, and then it just hangs when I try to connect, given the random network is mine and I can try to connect.

  • All I've found to be able to fix it is a reboot, which is not ideal.

  • Other things I've tried are systemctl restart and ifconfig down->up, but to no avail.

I've found another possible solution though, it's a repo with some kernel updates found on copr and github, same one on either, but I've still no good idea about how to implement it. So I need some help with that. Do I have to clone it to a certain folder? And when that is done, how do I install it? Hope someone knows how to do it, thanks. Here's a link to the copr one.

copr would be even easier than cloning a git repo:

dnf copr enable cass0/surface-pro-3-kernel to enable the repository on your machine. Since i am not familiar with the topic, I can't tell you what package of the copr-repo to install. But you can use dnf for that task: dnf install 4.7.4-994.surfacepro3 (if that's what you need).

Or you can take a look at this copr here: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/cop...

To find all COPR repos that contain relevant packages, you can search all fedorahosted COPR's with the following command: dnf copr search surface or dnf copr search surface-pro.

Good luck!
