With any program, when playing a video Xorg crashes, I returned to the log-in screen, this happened when I install the proprietary drivers from AMD, I installed the following packages: akmod-catalyst-12.1-1.fc16.x8664 xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-libs-12.1-1.fc16.x8664 xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-12.1-1.fc16.x8664 xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-devel-12.1-1.fc16.x8664.

I reinstalled video codecs like reproduction programs (vlc, dragon player, kaffeine), same problem.

I'm using Fedora 16 KDE spin, with the latest kernel 3.2.7-1.fc16.x86_64 My video card is Radeon HD 6850

Thanks for your help!

For ATI videocards use the open-source Gallium 3D driver(The default driver).Even though it lacks better 3D acceleration capabilities, it works like a charm for gnome 3.2 .

The proprietary driver provided by ATI is still buggy even thought it has better 3D acceleration support.

If you prefer the proprietary drivers file a bug in (unofficial).

There's nothing we can do about proprietary drivers really. :/

Thanks Malar.

I've found a solution. After search in found the bug 337, for those which have the same problem look in and Apparently xorg suffers a fatal flaw when playing a video using Xvideo output, but not using any other video output to fix it is necessary to change the video output of the program used and ready. In vlc is advisable to change to "X11 video output (XBC)" can find a way to do it here Well, without more to say, but to thank again the intention ... I leave wishing you the best!
