Hello, how can I enable HDMI/Display Port audio? I've a monitor connected to my docking station through a display-port to hdmi adapter to my elitebook.

aplay -l show:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CX20724 Analog [CX20724 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

but i'm unable to get any audio output from my monitor.

Installing pavucontrol I can see only one Output device with multiple profiles, none of those are working properly.

In Fedora 26 LXDE I've solved it with PulseAudio Volume Control: go to the Configuration tab and choose suitable option with HDMI. In my case "Digital Stereo (HDMI 2) Output" works OK.

Hello!

Try running

alsamixer

and check for muted channels. And here some further readings: How to debug sound problems.
