Hi, I have transmission setup on my server PC (192.168.0.11) and I am trying to access the web interface from my desktop PC (192.168.0.9). The server is in a VM on my desktop.

I get the error message:

"This site can’t be reached

192.168.0.11 took too long to respond."

I have opened transmission, gone to preferences and enabled and opened the web interface locally, that works fine.

I have added my desktops IP address to the white-list in transmission and even verified it in the settings.json file.

I also added a line:

"rpc-access-control-list": "127.0.0.*, 192.168.0.*"

I still get the error message.

Just to be clear I do not want to be able to access this over the internet, just the LAN

I can ping (and even ssh) to my server from my desktop, so layer 7 is fine.

I have restarted the daemon, the server and tried another browser, what next?

You need to open up the firewall. I wrote up how to do that in Fedora as part of this article. Just skip down to the firewall stuff.
