Can someone please post a working /etc/X11/xorg.conf file for my Thinkpad T23 (which has S3 Savage graphics)?

I installed xorg-x11-drv-savage and did the trick mentioned at bugzilla, i.e. edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and add

Option "DisableTile" "true"

in the Section "Device" that contains the Savage driver options. Before that I was not even able to start X (only with vesa driver, but not with savage driver).

The above mentioned workaround apparently only works for Fedora 17, but not for Fedora 18.

My problem: X server starts, everything looks fine. But videos with mplayer and GL stuff are still choppy and slow. VLC shows nothing but a black screen and some errors.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, seems that the problem is, that DRI1 driver support for the Savage cards being dropped since F17. See this forum discussion.

I will try Fedora 16.

The bug was fixed: See here https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63279#c30 but isn’t included in Fedora 20. Maybe Fedora 21.
