I am running Fedora 24 with MATE. I am currently trying to install my NVIDIA drivers. I am following a guide on how to do it ( ). I have to reboot into terminal mode. I am up to step 2.8.1.

So how do I enter terminal mode from the GRUB2 menu. I got 3 options.

  1. Fedora 24
  2. Fedora 24 Recovery
  3. Windows 10

Looking at a few more of your comments below. It looks like it won't boot for you at all anymore. Is that right? You mentioned that you're getting a grub> prompt?

If this is the case, you'll probably need either Emergency Mode or single-user mode: When it loads and you get the normal grub screen where you choose your OS. Press 'e', scroll down to the line that starts with linux16 scroll until you get to the 'rhgb quiet' section, delete 'rhgb quiet' and replace it with '' press ctrl+x to continue the boot in this mode.

From there, you should be able to fix it.

You can enable network mode boot by doing

systemctl isolate

Then next boot will be on terminal mode only to restore to graphic mode

systemctl isolate

if you are in graphic mode and want to get to terminal you can always do press keys ctrl+alt+f3 or ctrl+alt+f2 to switch back to graphic ctrl+alt+f1. If you run into an issue installing Nvidia and you boot but only show a cursor on it try any of the keys combinations to go to a terminal and try to fix your issue.

Good luck

The issue is I can't get into terminal mode nor graphics mode either. I disable noveau. What I mean is text mode. Just a black screen with the command prompt/terminal running so I can finish my installation.

So if I click option one it takes me to a black screen with a flickering white underscore ( _ ) If I edit it and go to the linux line and add a space then 3 it does the same thing, only when I join the 3 to the last word do I get something different. Then it loads up a bunch sentences starting showing up. Such as Start up services booted ok

I tried recovery but i dont want to use it

also doing ctrl alt f3 didnt do anything
