How do I get local email going?

When I send mail to myself using mailx and then look for it with mailx, there is nothing there. Similarly, cron jobs do not seem to send me mail. I do not see sendmail running. Do I have to have that running for local email to work?

Fedora include postfix to send local emails make sure is installed and initialized,

systemctl status postfix

if is running you could send emails from one user to other on your system, plus outside you pc if you set the email address on /etc/aliases

The default desktop install does not include a mail server now. I recommend postfix. You will need to dnf install postfix and dnf remove ssmtp. Run the newaliases command and edit the /etc/postfix/main.cf config file to handle your computer hostname. systemctl start postfix and it should be working. Also, systemctl enable postfix so it starts on boot.
