How do I repair my file system on Fedora Core 5?

how to file system repair in fedora core 5.#fsck -bf /dev/hda command cant repair.please help me

Fedora core 5? That's really ancient. The current release is 16, with 17 coming out in a few weeks. Please back up all your data and use a current release.

It might also be more helpful if you stated why you require the file system repair in the first place :)

try to mount the file-system as read-only with

mount /dev/hda /mnt -o ro

and backup your content, by copying it to another media
