I just installed Fedora 24 (KDE) and I get a black screen with a cursor in the shape of an "X". This is my first attempt at installing a Linux distro so if there are additional information that could help, please let me know how I can get it.

I am trying to install this on my laptop:

  • CPU: Skylake i7 (6700-HQ)
  • Memory: DDR4 8GB
  • GPU: Nvidia Gtx 970m

I installed following the steps by using the live-usb creator. Should I try installing Fedora again?

EDIT: I got the following error after another install (after cleaning the disk). (sorry about quality)

The problem is probably related to the dedicated video card. Which driver did you install?

Driver? Uh... Not sure, I just followed the directions when installing the OS.

Looks like you had installed a Intel video driver, not the one installed by default by Fedora, is that right? can you try to login using waylan to see if that way you can login.

Do you have dual video card and intel one and Nvidia one? the output of xorg log show Intel, but you mention Nvidia?
