After upgrading the distro with a cinnamon DE on my Acer ES1-131, changing the brightness with the FN-keys stopped working. When using the FN-keys, the indicator still shows but the actual brightness does not change. Directly changing the brightness with:

tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness <<< 1100

works though.

I tried the following without success.

Adding acpi_backlight=vendor or video.use_native_backlight=1 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX.and running grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.

Or the follwing:

sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf

Section "Device"
         Identifier "card0"
         Driver "intel"
         Option "Backlight" "intel_backlight"
         BusID "PCI:0:2:0"

Additional note: After suspending (to RAM), it is possible to adjust the brightness again. Login in and out doesn't work though. Problem persists after restarting.

I have same problem with F24 and HP_ProBook_430_G2. It helped me to resole the problem.

As root, edit /etc/default/grub and adding the option intel_pstate=disable which will prevent a hang at boot.
After adding this, update the grub configs with the following (assuming default uEFI setup);
      grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg
There is a work around for this BIOS bug in the 4.6 kernel,
which is not available for Fedora 24 at this point.

Thanks a lot for your answer, but sadly the same issue persists for me.
