Execute the command from where you want the video to be saved.

Just runls after you ran youtube-dl, and it will show the content of the directory, including the video. They are usually saved as webm, so you can run ls *.webm

Or do you mean you got lost in your directory tree and actually don't know where exactly you executed youtube-dl? Then run pwd to determine your current directory.

The command pwd gives me the directory root.. I used to run commands as a super user.. So when I all the videos I download are in the root folder.. the problem is solved now..

But I don't have the permission to access and delete videos existing in the root folder.. how can I do it?

Don't work as root if you don't have to, and don't use sudo if you don't have to. youtube-dl does not need any special permissions, so just stick to your regular user...( then you will always be allowed to access and delete files that belong to user). Now, since the files belong to root, you either use root to access and delete them (e.g. sudo ..., sudo rm ..., su -c "..."), or just change ownership (sudo chown) of the files (after copying them to /home/user/...). Or just re-download them as regular user. Be mindful with use of root!

run youtube.dl from the location where you want to store the file. for ex "if you want to save the video in the downloads folder then first navigate to the folder by using /home/username/Downloads then run />youtube.dl.

The file will be saved in the downloads folder
