So I have been using Fedora 16 for quite a while now and I am starting to discover some of it's flaws... The most noticeable and annoying of them all is the very poor performance I am getting while trying to play games. My GPU is an ATI Radeon HD5850 with 1GB of VRAM -plenty to play games-. On Windows I could play games on Ultra settings like Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2 but now I have a hard time getting 15 FPS on Minecraft. I am using the open-source drivers (Gallium3D). Is this normal ?

Probably you can try with the Catalyst drivers for ATI Radeon. Hopefully the below question in Ask fedora will give you some insight about how can you install Catyalst drivers for ATI Radeon.
