The BEST way of playing Windows games on Fedora.

asked 2016-05-25 13:39:02 -0500

Hi, Geometry Dash is a fun game and I want to run it efficiently on my Fedora 23. Is there a way to run it without loosing much on performance.

PS.: My PC is capable of running it at 60 FPS on windows and you need 60 FPS for you to be able to beat a single level and I tried using wine but I was getting around 30 FPS (Which is bad for this game)

IMHO, the best way to play Windows games is running Windows

I've been looking into gpu passthrough in QEMU with OVMF personally and that looks to be the best way although I haven't successfully set this up yet. Otherwise your options would be playing via steam for linux if your game is available there, or configuring WINE which you've already done. Only other option would be to setup a dual boot config...

You'll basically double handle your hardware resources, and bottle neck performance... Install steam. There's a plethora of games available, and some really good ones too like L4D2 and COH2 etc..
