Acer Aspire M5 doesnt connect to internet?

asked 2016-05-16 02:09:45 -0500

I installed Fedora 23 on my acer aspire m5 to learn linux but it will not connect to the internet. Is there a way to fix this or is it incompatible with fedora? It has 12g ram, 4th gen i5 intel processor, intel 400 integrated graphics.

It seems like these systems often come with the Atheros AR9462 wireless chipset. You can check for the wireless device type by looking at the output from:

lspci | grep -i wireless

If you do have that AR9462 chipset, you can try this (as root):

echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" >> /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf

Once you've created that new ath9k.conf file, reboot and see if Fedora can then see the wireless device.
