I am trying to install SublimeText 3 on my Fedora 23 system. However on the official website of this tool provides me the .deb package. I am now wondering how can I install this package on my Fedora 23. As per my information, Fedora supports only rpm amd yum packages.

Can anyone guide me the steps, how can I install the .deb package on my system?

Please Note:: I am a Windows user, who recently moved to Linux

Thanks & Regards

I think you can use Fedy to install it.

You are correct, .deb can't be installed in Fedora/Red Hat based systems. They use RPM that uses .rpm packages. Theoretically you can use alien to convert the package but that is usually not recommended.

They also offer a source-code tarball. Does that help you?

Yeah.. I did download the tarball too, but again the same question :( .. How should I proceed with tarball? Sorry to say, but life seems to be extremely difficult in Fedora!!!!

Please don't use or suggest using fedy, it's horribly insecure and trivial to attack for hackers over the internet.

@genodeftest Note that I was suggesting a FOSS tool to install proprietary software. If you're concerned about something, I think you should be concerned about the latter.

Don't bother pissing around with .deb files as there useless for fedora, get it from the link below instead!

I didn't know that it is allowed to package proprietary software in COPR.

You might want to consider the following tweak tool:

Allows to install Sublime, Brackets and more.

Or just use their shell script to install Sublime...:

Maybe late, but for those who are reading, now there is a really easy way to do it, here are the steps:

  1. sudo rpm -v --import
  2. sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo
  3. sudo dnf install sublime-text

Hope it helps
