Hello, I upgraded from fedora 15 to fedora 16 (with preupgrade, perfect, no problems). I read that that HAL was gone, but I'm surprised to see it still running :

service --status-all

haldaemon.service - HAL Hardware Manager Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/haldaemon.service; static) Active: active (running) since Thu, 17 Nov 2011 12:31:29 +0100; 29s ago

how is it possible ?

Thanks.

Fedora 16 does not ship with the HAL daemon and libhal, which have been replaced with udisks, upower and libudev.

You may:

  1. yum remove hal-filesystem hal-libs
  2. Check that nothing gets removed because it depends on hal

shanks: Even on a proper f16 system, many packages will have "fc15" in the name, as not every package is rebuilt for every Fedora release.
