F18 error 11

asked 2013-01-20 12:48:13 -0500

I have tried to install F18 numerous times with the same effect no matter what I did different. I always get the same error, "(anaconda:667): Gdk-WARNING **: anaconda: Fatal IO error 11 (Reference temporarily unavailable) on X server: 1."

I have tried to find a hardware compatibility list to no avail. The Link in the Installation guide sends you to the Release notes to section 4.2,

here

But gives no list of hardware nor can I find anything newer than 2010 for compatibility lists for any Fedora products. enter code here

I am having the same problem. I'm using Fedora 18 DVD x86 with 64bit. Asrock Extreme Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3, i5 2500k, nVidia 580gtx, 16gb ram at 1600 of DD3.

I'm going to try the live disk next, and then Fedora 17 then upgrade if live fails.

UPDATE So, I updated my BIOS and I tried the F18 live, and I'm stuck at the log in screen, where I see option for Live User, but everything is grayed out. I retried the F18 DVD with updated BIOS, no go. I am now looking for Fedora 17 downloads.

UPDATE FOUND FIX Ok, for me, I went to my BIOS, and set my onboard graphics as primary instead of my PCI-E Nvidia 580gtx graphics card. Installed without a hitch using F18 DVD 64bit, and I then reset back to PCI-E in BIOS.

side note I had a problem with dual monitor, where my mouse was on a black screen on my primary monitor hooked into video card, but screen was on secondary monitor, and I could not input anything to it. I then disconnected everything and put everything into my onboard hookins, reset and I had no problem.
