I am using F17 gnome-shell version. I wrote a simple bash script and made it world-executable. It works flawlessly when i run it in the console. I assign a custom key combination to this script. The problem is that the script does not work when I use the shortcut. I tried it several times after changing key combinations (Alt+key, ctrl+key, alt+ctrl+key etc) but it consistently failed.

can you please post the script so we can see if there is anything wrong in that?!

What was the exact command that you associate with the keyboard shortcut?

(meta) This question was asked on 2012 and it was for fedora 17 beefy miracle. I think this shouldn't be happening in Fedora 22. So should we close this question?

Consider using alacarte to add the command to your menu interface and choose run in terminal.

If it works there maybe you need to add the run in terminal option to your hot-key execute.
