The computer lags quite badly when resizing some windows. Firefox is worst. It also lags for some other operations like maximising windows and using Google maps. This got a lot worse after I upgraded the CPU and memory.

Here is a video of me resizing konsole: . It looks like the CPU is overloaded but it's not (I can't stop the things that are running now, but the lag happens when the CPU is idle, trust me;). One can barely see that the "X" process start using 100 % CPU.

The graphics card is a Radeon 6770 with the open source driver. I have tried different settings in (KDE) "Desktop Effects", "Advanced"; Compositing type and Qt graphics system.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

Please provide more informations with log files, and used kernel and more. Without it not really can anybody help you. However for the first blink I think the problem lies within the radeon - but we can say more if you attach in a text file dmesg output

your information for answering isn't enough really What version of fedora you're using and what kernel you have installed? we need more information to solve your problem, but first of all provide more information about your system

you could probably have to try to disable dpm or change power profile to high.
