Feature request more than anything, but other dists seem to have this configured and works quite well - usually an option in the settings dialogue of a wired network connection that is grayed out unless a VPN connection has been configured, in which case there is a dropdown box of VPN connections and a tickbox option to connect automatically to the selected VPN when the wired connection is activated.

What distro using Gnome 3.1x does provide this feature?

You can read here how to request a feature from Fedora Developers

Hi,

i found on ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/328823/vpn-autoconnect

seems to work, when you use nm-connection-editor instead of the built in. (haven't tried it myself) or on: http://askubuntu.com/questions/43465/how-to-automatically-connect-to-vpn-with-network-manager theres a python script as a workaround.

Best regards,

nm-connection-editor does indeed do the trick - I didn't realize there were both NetworkManager and GNOME guis to configure the network (I think that is correct to say). It is though a user 'user case' scenario rather than admin., I might suggest the feature be added to GNOME all the same.

was the same for me, i recently figured out, that nm-connection-editor has a few more features. And it helped me to fix two broken VPN Connections.
