Why Fedora do not ship OpenGL 3.0? (even disable it for Intel HW)

All pieces are there for Fedora 18 to provide OpenGL 3.0 on hardware that support it!

However Fedora Mesa package is build WITHOUT support for --eanble-texture-float. AFAIK enabling that do not bring legal wrath on your head as its just autodiscovery code! NOT actual implementation.

What more Fedora DISABLE OpenGL 3.0 support on Intel HW even though Intel team is enabling it by default.

(And again to actually get code that may infringe any patents, you need to fetch additional lib from rpmfusion...)

What is wrong with OpenGL 3.0 that Fedora refuse to ship it?

I have asked the same question to the Mesa and Red Hat folks.

Mesa response:

Red Hat response:

In summary: Red Hat legal has not given the OK yet. No ETA on their decision.

Update the news:

It looks like we need LLVM 3.8 , but Fedora just have LLVM 3.7 , and LLVM 3.8 is not yet released ( )
