It always show grub rescue on boot even though I have used "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg".

I was delete a partition in windows 7.And "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg" doesn't work.

I need to set root and prefix every time I open my computer.

There's a four-step process that might help. Run it when you get to grub's recovery console:

  1. grub > root (hd0, 0)
  2. grub > makeactive
  3. grub > chainloader +1
  4. grub > boot

As for where you want grub installed (hd0, {0,1,2,etc}), it's up to your current setup.

I originally found it at this forum: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/boot-stops-at-grub-console-62225/
