I'd like to configure my Laptops screen resolution on Fedora 20 for 1366x768 pixel. (Windows 7 does offer that.) Unfortunately, the only resolution offered is 1024x768. How can I diagnose what's wrong? The old system-config-display is no longer available.

@jochenw - What desktop env do you have? GNOME?

@hello: In what way does the Desktop Environment have influence on the screen resolution, which is (AFAIK) managed by the kernel?

Anyways, I am using GNOME 3, and my wife's using MATE.

Because the easier way to fix this issue is by using the GUI settings, and the options for that differ between desktop envs.
